The World of Lyzix
Lyzix’s Geography
Lyzix is a large continent that has been in existence for millennia. It flourishes with civilization and life. Magical creatures, such as the wymer, swamp spirits, mountain golems, and more dwell here, but the prominent species is the human. Its shape resembles that of a rectangle, with a half-moon-shaped bay indenting land in the northeastern part.
Lyzix is filled with kingdoms, towns, and villages. It has all different kinds of geography: a jungle and swamp in the north, with the east and center full of rolling hills, flat plains, green forests, and dry savannas. The west contains the Moai Mountains, and the Harobi Desert takes up most of the south, along with a forest in the southwest. There are also islands surrounding the main continent, none of which are known to have major settlements.
The Early Ages
The earliest inhabitants of Lyzix are said to have arrived so long ago that the continent of Lyzix was much bigger. Over time, Lyzix has eroded into the smaller but still largely sized, continental island described above. However, the earliest documented inhabitants are known to have lived in small hamlets and villages. Each was independent from another.
As time progressed, each village developed into towns, expanding their civilization. And soon, it would be intersecting towns that would spark the first conflicts of Lyzix.
Many towns fought each other for land, power, or simply to expand their reign even further. Whole civilizations were wiped out, and the population of Lyzix declined. Soon, only a little over half of the original Lyxianian towns remained.
Zar’s Rise to Power
Yet this would not be the first of battles that devastated Lyzix. After the Moai Mountains were explored, and much of the mountain’s silver was collected and used, a boy named Zar was born. Living in one of the towns, he grew up during the time where other civilizations were still thought of as enemies—the values of the ancient peoples had still not dissolved through time. However, Zar was never able to venture outside of his town's camp, and this created a curiosity that burned inside of him. Eventually, he fled the area.
Zar began to travel from different towns, proposing an idea to unite Lyzix together as one. Many dismissed his idea, threatening to kill him if he ever returned. And so, as Zar continued on, he lost confidence. He also became dangerously angry. Eventually, Zar stumbled upon a town set in the Moai Mountains. This town, containing rare silver pieces of craftsmanship, had a larger military force than many others. Zar, in his state of angry rejection, decided this would be the beginning point of his attack.
He mustered the town to stand with him and, after killing their leader, led the military force across Lyzix. He burned towns in their path, recruiting those in support of him, and killing those who defied him. Eventually, the entire northern part of Lyzix was under his control. And those south of it were struck with fear. They ran, some even daring to brave the Harobi Desert rather than facing the madman. They were never seen again.
The Fall of Zar and The Age of Sorcery
With his rebels dead or pushed into the far outreaches of Lyzix, Zar declared himself king of Lyzix. He ruled for many decades in the capital town, right near the Moai Mountains, and though he had his supporters, many, especially on the outreaches of the kingdom, despised him. One man by the name of Loron Quendal decided to act upon that feeling.
Loron was born from those who had fled into the far reaches of the Moai Mountains. He used the undiscovered metals that surrounded him to forge weapons. Then, as the population of the refugees had increased, he inspired them to take action. Loron went from town to town, almost mimicking Zar, proposing that they overthrow the ruler. The people agreed, and listened. Soon, Quendal had an army. And, marching upon the capital town, he himself faced Zar and killed him. Lyzix was free.
Loron, once in control of Lyzix, began to examine the small amount of silver that remained. With help from master forgers, he began to enact strange occurrences with the silver. Eventually, learning to harness the power, Loron would be known as the first sorcerer. His knowledge spread to many others, yet silver was the main key to sorcery’s use. Therefore, not many were able to become true sorcerers—only those who had access to silver, and therefore the ability was limited.
Rueben Fox and The Spectacular Swordsmen (P1)
Centuries passed after the discovery of sorcery. Many new settlements that developed into towns and kingdoms sprung up with the help of the supernatural powers. However, it was also during this time that the Spectacular Swordsman Line was created.
Many centuries after Loron Quendal’s discovery of sorcery, as the silver supply was more depleted, and sorcery was now a rare and estranged ability, a man named Rueben Fox was born. A simple man, he was always interested in swordsmanship. He had discovered a small piece of silver that he kept to himself, and was also interested in magical creatures.
Fox, when he was older, made a trip north to the Moai Mountains. There, he met an Obilor, a fierce magical creature that in order to survive, he was forced to kill. However, examining the creature’s body, Fox extracted some of its bone. And realizing that he had discovered one of the most durable materials in Lyzix, he forged a sword out of it.
Rueben Fox and The Spectacular Swordsmen (P2)
The sword was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. And Fox had made it just in time, too. An organization, with the ill intent of remaking Lyzix, was attempting to collect all remaining silver pieces in Lyzix. Fox did not have much time, but he used the silver he had found as a child and forged a sphere out of it, inserting inside the pommel of the sword with the heat of the Moai Mountains.
Many kingdoms of Lyzix fought the evil that was rising. But with Fox’s incredible skills and newly forged weapons, the rebellion was put down, and Fox safely created a vault in the center of Lyzix where he stored much of the remaining, unused silver. Only a small fraction was left to use among the sorcerers. With this, Fox had successfully saved Lyzix. He named his weapon The Spectacular Sword, and he was then dubbed the title that would go down in history: Fox was named the first ever Spectacular Swordsman.
He took his son as an apprentice, and the Spectacular Swordsmen were forever tasked with defending Lyzix from evil. Swordsman after swordsman was trained. They defended Lyzix successfully. Peace was at large, and throughout this time Lyzix expanded. The Harobi Desert was explored and civilized by Wendil the Great, and many more important contributions to Lyzix’s history were made.
Current Lyzixian Times
After many, many generations of swordsmen trained and centuries passing by, we arrive at Drake’s time. The Spectacular Swordsman Line, once a lost concept, is rising to the surface once more, with Drake at the center of it.
And this is where we find ourselves in The Forgotten Sword, the first installment of the Spectacular Swordsman series.
